Have you ever felt like peace, healing, or a relationship with God was hidden behind a paywall? Maybe you've seen an ad for a "miracle" book or a course promising the "Seven Secrets" to fixing your life โ for just a small "investment."
It's easy to feel desperate when you're struggling. When we're at our lowest, we often look for shortcuts. But the truth is, the most valuable thing in the world โ your freedom in Christ โ has already been paid for.
The Price Tag on Peace
In our world today, we're taught that "success" means sales and "influence" means numbers. Unfortunately, that "hustle" culture sometimes creeps into the church, and people start treating the Gospel like a product and believers like customers.
But Jesus was very clear about how spiritual gifts and truth should be shared. When He sent out His disciples, He gave them a simple command:
"Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give." โ Matthew 10:8 (KJV)
If someone is putting a price tag on your spiritual freedom, they aren't following the pattern Jesus set. There is no "Premium Edition" of God's grace.
From Anger to Intercession
It's easy to get frustrated or angry when we see people "selling" the Word of God. But there's a better way to respond: intercession.
Many of these "spiritual influencers" might actually be confused. They've been taught by the world that if something is free, it has no value. They may think they're helping โ not realizing they're laying a heavy burden on people that Jesus never intended. Instead of judging them, we can pray for them: that their eyes would be opened to the truth that the Gospel cannot be bought or sold. After all, the invitation from God has always gone out to those who have nothing to give but their hearts:
"Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price." โ Isaiah 55:1 (KJV)
God is for the Brokenhearted
If you're feeling weighed down today, know this: God isn't looking for an "investment" or a "bundle" purchase. He isn't holding out on you until you buy Chapter 4 of a "Seven Secrets" book. He is close to you right now, exactly where you are. He doesn't offer shortcuts โ but He does offer plenty of grace.
"The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit." โ Psalm 34:18 (KJV)
Put away the "secrets" and sit with the Word. God gives Himself away for free to anyone who asks. You don't need a credit card to access His presence โ you just need to come to Him.

Freely ye have received, freely give.
